Session 5
As a Facilitator, I had the opportunity to use Moodle platform for e-facilitation of online courses. Moodle is a powerful learning management system that allows for the creation and delivery of online courses, as well as the facilitation of virtual meetings like online chat. Through my experience with Moodle, I had come to appreciate the unique benefits and challenges of e-facilitation.
One of the key benefits of Moodle is its ability to facilitate asynchronous learning. This means that students can access course materials and participate in discussions at their own pace and on their own schedule. This flexibility is particularly valuable for students who may have other commitments, such as work or family responsibilities, that make it difficult to attend traditional classroom sessions.
However, Moodle also presents unique challenges for e-facilitation. Without the benefit of face-to-face communication, it can be difficult to build rapport and establish a sense of community within a virtual classroom. Additionally, technical difficulties can disrupt communication and delay online discussions.
As an e-facilitator on Moodle, I had to learn how to use a variety of tools and techniques to keep students engaged and motivated. This has included the use of discussion forums, conducting surveys, online quizzes, and online chat. I had to develop strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to effectively convey course materials and facilitate online discussions.
Overall, my experience with e-facilitation on Moodle has been both challenging and rewarding. While it requires a different set of skills than traditional classroom facilitation, e-facilitation on Moodle has allowed me to provide flexible learning opportunities for students.
